Japan Post ventures into international airfreight

JAPAN Post is to create an international air cargo joint venture with domestic transport services company Sankyu in Asia.

Sankyu will spin off its existing air cargo division, with current annual sales of around US$89 million, and Japan Post will invest in the spin off. Japan Post will own 60 per cent and Sankyu 40 per cent.

The joint venture will arrange cargo transportation and will prepare customs clearance documents. Its cargo collection and delivery services will be based on Sankyu’s existing overseas network and Japan Post Service’s network in Japan.
