LHC moves freighter back to FRA

LUFTHANSA Cargo (LHC) has successfully negotiated new daytime slots at Frankfurt Airport (Germany).

The change, to begin with the new summer flight plan on 25 March, sees an end to flights via Cologne (Germany) and the return of a freighter to the home hub.

LHC introduced a stopover in Cologne/Bonn for flights over Russia and China to comply with the ban, which was imposed in October after the winter schedule had already been agreed.

The night-flight ban has cost the company around €40 million (US$53.2 million) and hampered early-morning special freight flights to the US.

LHC says it will still fight the ban, and awaits a ruling from a Leipzig court in March as to whether the night flight ban should remain.
