Liege’s freight volumes in freefall

CARGO traffic at Liege plummeted by 20 per cent in September 2012, compared with the same period last year.
Belgium’s largest cargo airport handled 43,215 tonnes of freight, a spokesperson reveals.
The facility’s latest figures comes after it recorded an 18 per cent drop in August.
The spokesperson blamed the recent departure of two major USA carriers Kalitta Air and Southern – which switched to Leipzig Airport – for the "significant decrease" in traffic.
