New cargo centre opens in Peru

PERU’S president, Alan García, has just opened Lima Cargo City (LCC). The new centre is considered to be the most modern airfreight logistics centre in Latin America, built with an investment of more than US$35 million dollars.

Located close to the Jorge Chavez International Airport, and with more than 55,000 square metres of floor space, the centre will allow the airport to double the amount of airfreight currently processed.

LCC’s design will, according to LCC board chairman Alfredo Ferrero, “cut dispatch time by approximately two hours and give greater security to the operations”.

It will be staffed with 1,086 workers, distributed amongst 18 airlines, five banks, 15 cargo agencies, business centres and stores.
