PAL’s US$7bn Airbus order

PHILIPPINE Airlines (PAL) has ordered more than 50 Airbus jets worth US$7bn to meet growing demand for belly-hold cargo and passengers in the Middle East, Australia and Asia-Pacific.
The flag-carrier will start taking delivery of the aircraft, which includes wide-body A330-300s and single aisle A321s in 2013, as part of its major fleet modernisation programme.
“The orders we have placed with Airbus will play a key role in revitalising PAL and growing trade and tourism in the country,” states company chairman Lucio Tan.
