Paris plans new cargo facility

KUEHNE + Nagel and Worldwide Flight Services will operate within a new cargo facility at the end of 2012 at Paris Charles de Gaulle (CdG) Airport.
Airport operator Aéroports de Paris (AdP) is investing in the facility, named GB3, as part of its ongoing gateway freight zone development plan, which has seen investment of around €120 million (US$170.5 million) over the last five years.
The building will feature 13,500m2 of warehouse area as well as 4,300m2 of office space, and will have direct access to the airport’s runways.
“This new border station, located in the ‘prime active front’ of aircraft parking areas, will allow us to meet our customers’ requirements to optimise operational processes and to make Paris Charles de Gaulle airport more competitive,” AdP manager of large accounts division Edouard Mathieu commented.
Patrick Pépin, chief executive officer of France at K+N, said that the new facility will fortify K+N’s specialist healthcare logistics services, as it will include a dedicated temperature-controlled zone.
