Qatar considers Cargolux stake

REPORTS from Luxembourg suggest Qatar Airways Cargo plans to buy a stake in Cargolux.

So far, details are lacking. Marc Hoffmann, chairman of the Board of Cargolux, declined to comment, but he confirmed that 35 to 49 per cent of the company’s shares are for sale.

Swissair’s 33.7 per cent stake has been available since it was sold in 2009.

As of January 2010, the airline is owned by Luxair (52.1 per cent), Banque et Caisse d’Epargne de l’Etat (13.1 per cent), Société Nationale de Crédit et d’Investissement (11.5 per cent), the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg (eight per cent) and other shareholders (2.5 per cent).

Air Cargo News will publish more details as soon as they become available.
