QCS’ quick growth

FREIGHT forwarder Quick Cargo Service (QCS) has seen its turnover increase 11.5 per cent to €49 million (US$64.2 million) during 2011.

The company’s airfreight export sector recorded 32,000 metric tonnes, up 14.1 per cent compared to 2010. Gross yield outcome grew by 13.6 per cent to a total of €12.5 million ($16.4 million).

“The good news is that we expedited more items and heavier pieces at the same time,” managing director Stephan Haltmayer says. “While exports were exceptionally strong, imports declined by three per cent last year. Despite this slight setback on the import side our overall tonnage was well above market average.”

QCS is looking to expand in India during the coming months in close collaboration with Flyjack, which runs offices at all major Indian airports.

On routes to and from India QCS will prioritise Lufthansa Cargo’s capacity, especially on flights to Chennai and Mumbai, QCS founder Dieter Haltmayer says. Business in Australia, New Zealand and Russia will also be developed further with new route managers appointed to develop these fields.

In Moerfelden (Germany) QCS will expand its warehouse and increase handling capacity by renting an additional 3,000m² in a building adjacent to the headquarters.
