Rio Grande airport open to foreign cargo

VALLEY International Airport (VIA) has announced the re-opening of its US Customs and Border Protection facility. The Rio Grande valley airport will now be able to process foreign aircraft wanting to enter the US.

“It is definitely an exciting day here at VIA,” said Bryan Duffy, chairman of the Harlingen Airport Board. “Our cargo carriers, general and corporate aviation customers will benefit greatly from this added feature.

The new feature is the result of VIA being designated by the Department of Homeland Security as a ‘user-free’ entry airport.
