Sahara starts up in Tanzania

SAHARA Air Cargo has started operating in Tanzania, making it the only cargo airline registered in the country.

Solomon David, Sahara Cargo’s general manager – who describes it as a “boutique air cargo airline” – said: “Sahara [has been established] to meet the supply demands of small and medium businesses.

The all-cargo airline will operate scheduled freighters from Dar es Salaam to airports in Burundi, Comoros, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda.

David also says that his Dubai-based company did not start operations in Africa “for the sole purpose of making money”.

“Our major goal is to ensure that the local populations and other key stakeholders benefit from our business,” he claims.
