Saudia boosts Shanghai route

SAUDIA Cargo has increased its freighter capacity on an existing service connecting Shanghai (China) to Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
Saudi Arabia’s flag carrier will now use five MD-11Fs on the route, thereby increasing weekly volumes to 375 tonnes.
The move is in response to continued “strong demand” from the city despite an overall weak export market from China, the company states.
Vikram Vohra, Saudia’s regional sales director for the Far East, reveals: “We continue to evaluate the prospects of adding new cities to our China portfolio, as well as, opportunities to upgrade to larger freighter aircraft in the future as we expand our fleet.”
Saudi Cargo operates 13 freighters and sells belly-hold capacity on 145 passenger aircraft. Its global network spans 225 destinations.
