TAM stretches UK-Brazil cargo leg

TAM Airlines is adding cargo capacity between London (UK) and Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) by doubling its direct overnight non-stop services.

The new six-flight a week service will use an A330 from London Heathrow to Rio de Janeiro (Galeao) from 2 August and complement TAM’s existing daily overnight 777 service between London and Sao Paulo.

TAM first introduced a direct Rio de Janeiro-London service in August 2010.

The service is expected to cater for cargo shipments involved with the booming oil and gas industry, and shipments for the London Olympic Games in 2012 and the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games in 2016. Brazil will also stage the FIFA World Cup in 2014.
