Toll Group acquires Asia-Europe Sea-Air service provider

THE Toll Group has bought SAT Albatros (SAT), a Dubai-based provider of sea-air services.

As part of Toll’s ongoing aggressive acquisition strategy, SAT, which claims to be the world’s biggest sea-air carrier via Dubai, will become part of the group’s burgeoning forwarding division. This adds further capacity in the Middle East following the group’s 2009 acquisition of Dubai-based Logistic Distribution System and the UK’s Genesis Forwarding and WT Sea Air last July.

“The acquisition of SAT will further cement Toll’s strategic position in the Middle East and in the Asia-to-Europe trade lane,” said Toll Group’s managing director, Paul Little. “With a strong customer base and as the market leader in this service offering, SAT will support our intention to further develop in this market.

“The integration of SAT will allow us to secure a blue-chip well-established customer base principally consisting of European fashion apparel, electronics, and consumer goods conglomerates sourcing products from Asia.

“SAT has strong links in Europe and in particular Germany, which itself accounts for a majority of volume at destination,” Little concluded.
