United – Dolan shown the door

SCOTT Dolan, senior vice-president of airport operations and cargo at United Airlines, has reportedly left after disputes with chief executive officer Jeff Smisek.

Dolan was president of United Cargo until the carrier merged with Continental. Before that he was chief operating officer at Atlas Air and was vice-president of operational performance at Polar Air Cargo.

While it has been widely reported that Dolan left United, anonymous sources say there is more to the story as Dolan was allegedly escorted from the building earlier in November.

Jim McKeon, senior director of sales at Continental Airlines Cargo, has also departed for a stint as strategic advisor at Southwest’s cargo business.

United Airlines did not comment on Dolan’s exit, but said it had appointed Jon Roitman to serve as senior vice-president airport operations and cargo. Roitman was formerly vice-president for Newark hub operations.

Questions have been raised over the retention of standards since the merger, as Continental is perceived to be the bigger cargo player.
