UPS adding direct service to Guam

IN June, United Parcel Service (UPS) will start a direct weekly flight from Guam (US) to Hong Kong (China).

UPS will use a 747-400 freighter, which has 117 metric tonnes of payload capacity.

“The new Guam flight will offer service to the express package, military and forwarder communities and provide capacity for the burgeoning Asia export market,” said Derek Woodward, president of UPS’ Asia Pacific Region. “Additionally, the recently-announced expansion of the US marine base on Guam is increasing requests for UPS services there.”

The Shenzhen Asia Pacific Hub, at Shenzhen Baoan International Airport in China’s Pearl River Delta, cost UPS US$180 million, and has cut at least a day off shipment time-in-transit for customers in the region.
