DESPITE a run of inclement weather at the end of 2010, cargo volumes at US airports rose across the board. Air Cargo News takes a look at the rise of cargo last year:

• Air cargo volumes, including both mail and other freight, grew for the first time in five years at Portland International Airport. Total volumes rose by 6.4 per cent last year to 209,000 tons. UPS saw its tonnage rise by 7.9 per cent to 56,700 tons.

• Cargo passing through New York’s Stewart International Airport went up by about 18 per cent to 13,000 tons for the year.
