Whitehorn is new president of the UK’s CILT

Will Whitehorn has been officially welcomed as the new president of the UK’s Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT).
Over 100 guests joined Whitehorn at the president’s inauguration lunch in London.
During his first speech as president for 2016/17, Whitehorn said: “Great change is upon us,” as he made reference to disruptive technology and innovation in the logistics and transport sector. He expressed his belief that the role of the Institute will be to embrace this change and to ensure that it is at the forefront of qualifications, careers and professional development.
He added: “There will be bigger opportunities, and the sector will become more interesting as it encourages and embraces this change. This Institute has a proud history and its future will be an exciting one as we move into a new world.’
Whitehorn is director, Stagecoach Group and has been a vice-president of the Institute for the past four years. He is a leading figure in the transport sector and has worked in the profession all of his working life.
Immediate past-president Beverley Bell welcomed Whitehorn to the role, and said: “I have been delighted to take on this hugely prestigious role and I will continue to champion the causes highlighted in my time as president: attracting individuals to the sector and retaining them, and professionalising the industry.”
