AEI gets green light for CRJ200 jet conversion

US-based Aeronautical Engineers (AEI) has gained certification from the US Federal Aviation Authority for a passenger-to-freighter conversion of a Bombardier CRJ200 aircraft.
The work was carried out by AEI’s authorised conversion centre, Miami-based Commercial Jet and the aircraft was flown to its Dothan, Alabama facility for painting in the livery of first customer, Waterford, Michigan based IFL Group.
AEI says it has over 45 firm orders and commitments for the CRJ200 SF freighter conversion.
The CRJ200 SF offers either eight 61.5” x 88” or eight 62” x 88” ULD positions, thanks to AEI’s 94” x 77” main deck cargo door. It has a main deck payload of up to 6,731kg, depending upon the model and aircraft weight limits, the CRJ200 SF
It also has a supernumerary seat and a rigid 9G cargo/smoke barrier with a sliding access door.
