AMI Germany celebrates tenth birthday
03 / 12 / 2015
AMI GmbH – the German arm of airfreight and express wholesaler – is celebrating its tenth anniversary.
The company began operations from its base near Frankfurt Airport’s Cargo City South in 2005, and "successfully pioneered the trade-only airfreight wholesale concept in Germany"; today it has over 700 customers on its books, and covers all international gateways across the country.
AMI general manager Germany Gottfried Matheis says: “We have made a solid start in Germany, but there is still a way to go. The German market is distrustful of co-loading with good reason, and is taking time to realise that AMI is different, and brings unique neutrality to the process, so protecting their business.
“Our aim is to level the playing field for small and midsize forwarders, so they can compete with the larger multi-nationals by acquiring greater buying power, and accessing frequent services to over 280 destinations, and additional support services.”
He concludes: “We are set to step up our marketing activity, to deliver our message more forcefully to a wider audience. AMI’s success and scale in the UK show the potential for us in Germany, which is a larger market.”
