BACA appoints Nick Weston to position of deputy chairman

Nick Weston, chief executive of UK-based Weston Aviation, has been elected to the position of deputy chairman of BACA – the Worldwide Association of Air Charter Professionals, the world’s largest air charter organisation.
He is to share the role of deputy chairman with Volker Meissner of ARGUS International during what BACA is describing as a transitional period as it moves forward to the “next stage” of its development.
One of Weston’s key aims, a statement from BACA revealed, is to ensure that the grouping becomes “the global broker association”, representing and speaking on behalf of brokers around the world.
And, in a presentation to the BACA Council, Nick described how he would like to develop global links with brokers and increase the group’s membership to include international brokers, operators and companies involved in supporting industries.
BACA is already said to be working to “fully engage with brokers, operators and airlines”, with chief executive Dave Edwards, who was appointed to that role in October last year, having created a number of committees from Council members to drive this process forward.
BACA chairman Richard Mumford said: “Having Nick as deputy chairman will be good for BACA and good for our members.
“His understanding and experience of so many areas of our industry will mean he can relate to our members and the wider industry about so many aspects of their business.”
Weston added that he is looking forward to “building on the initiatives currently being developed.
“This is going to be a key time for BACA and I hope that we can grow our membership internationally to become the voice of brokers worldwide.”
BACA’s stated purpose is to ensure that all companies involved in aircraft chartering meet high standards of integrity and professionalism.
Its members include air charter brokers, aircraft operators, airports, handling agents and many other companies involved in the aviation business.
