Brussels Airlines parent company amends board of directors

In its latest meeting, SN Airholding, parent company of Brussels Airlines, made changes to its board of directors.

Jan Smets, former governor of the National Bank of Belgium and member of the SN Airholding board of directors since July 2019, was elected as co-chairman.

With immediate effect, Smets succeeds Etienne Davignon, who remains a member of the board.

Christina Foerster (pictured), a member of the Lufthansa Group executive board, customer and corporate responsibility; and former chief executive of Brussels Airlines, will join the SN Airholding board of directors as new member.

Foerster replaces Jörg Beissel, head of corporate control at Deutsche Lufthansa.

In summary, the new board of directors at SN Airholding consists now of:

  • Jan Smets, former governor of the National Bank of Belgium (co-chairman);
  • Thorsten Dirks, member of the Lufthansa Group executive board and chief of IT, digital and innovation (Co-Chairman);
  • Etienne Davignon, minister of state;
  • Heike Birlenbach, senior vice president of sales at Lufthansa Group Network Airlines and chief commercial officer at Hub Frankfurt;
  • Christina Foerster, member of the Lufthansa Group executive board, customer and corporate responsibility; and former chief executive of Brussels Airlines.
