Freightor lessor ATSG’s board of directors has elected Mike Berger, currently chief strategy officer, as its new president.

Berger took over the role on October 1 and in the new role will lead “ATSG’s transformational growth”.

He will be responsible for aligning the business operations with the company’s long-term strategic plans and will report to Rich Corrado, who is chief executive and also previously held the role of president.

Chairman of the board Joe Hete said: “This is a key step in the expansion of Berger’s responsibilities, to assume responsibility for the operating companies, as well as the commercial business.”

Berger joined the company in 2018 as chief commercial officer and president of the company’s Airborne Global Solutions subsidiary. He was promoted to chief strategy officer in 2022.

Prior to joining ATSG, he held senior leadership positions at major air express companies including DHL, TNT in Europe, and with Dicom Transportation Group of Canada.

He started his career with Airborne Express. He has a bachelor’s degree in business management from Temple University.

ATSG’s fleet of in-service aircraft includes 82 Boeing 767-300s, 35 767-200s, four 757-200s, three 777-200s and two Airbus A321 aircraft awaiting freighter conversion, according to the company’s website.
