Graeme Wilkinson becomes BIFA training development manager

Graeme Wilkinson

The British International Freight Association (BIFA), the trade body that represents UK forwarding and logistics businesses, has named Graeme Wilkinson as its new training development manager.

With over 25 years of freight forwarding experience, including spells at Pantos Logistics, CH Robinson, MIQ Logistics and Emery Worldwide, Wilkinson joined BIFA’s training team in 2017 and played a key role in redesigning the association’s training materials when it brought its training and education activities in-house.

In his new role, Wilkinson will head up the five-strong training team and will report to BIFA executive director Carl Hobbis, who said: “During Graeme’s six years at BIFA he has shown how his wide range of industry knowledge, covering many aspects of forwarding and logistics, can provide excellent support for the delivery of our freight and customs training programmes. “We are anticipating demand for all the different courses and programmes that we offer to remain high in 2023.”

BIFA director general Steve Parker added: “Brexit, the switch from CHIEF to CDS, and the development of a relevant freight forwarding apprenticeship, are among a number of factors that have led to a significant increase in the demand for our training programmes.

“Graeme’s promotion is part of a strategy to further develop the portfolio of training activities that BIFA now offers, and he will lead the push to further enhance the quality of education and skills development that we offer as we seek to help members cultivate the next generation of freight forwarders.”
