Guillaume Halleux has joined Swissport as chief commercial officer and member of the executive leadership team.

The former Qatar Airways chief cargo officer will execute Swissport’s commercial agenda in developing existing and building new client relationships, and drive the acquisition of new business.

Halleux brings over 25 years of experience in the aviation and logistics sector, as well as his role heading up Qatar Airways Cargo, he has also served as the airline’s vice president of cargo Asia Pacific.

Halleux started his career with Air France in 1997, where he held several positions in logistics and business development before joining the SkyTeam Cargo US joint venture between Air France, Delta Airlines, and Korean Air.

Later he was appointed regional director for Hong Kong and South China at Air France-KLM.

“We are delighted to welcome Guillaume as our chief commercial officer,” said Warwick Brady, president and chief executive of Swissport. “Our growth plan and the company’s strategic outlook as the global market leader attract the best talent in the industry.

“Swissport’s management team consists of a complementary group of executives with experience in ground handling and the airline industry. It allows us to understand what airlines want and meet their expectations. This understanding is instrumental in fostering successful partnerships.”

Dirk Goovaerts, is chief executive of Continental Europe, Middle East and Africa, and global cargo chair at Swissport.

Qatar Cargo has not named Halleux’s replacement. Liesbeth Oudkerk is currently the senior vice president cargo sales and network planning for Qatar Cargo.
