Hellmann Worldwide Logistics has appointed Marc Wijnen to the newly created role of global head of e-commerce.

Wijnen will be responsible for the “further development of the e-commerce product globally”, which falls under the contract logistics segment.

He will also remain responsible for the European contract logistics product as chief operating officer.

The company said it had created the role following the ongoing boom in e-commerce demand, boosted by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Hellmann chief operating officer contract logistics Volker Sauerborn said: “The e-commerce market is extremely dynamic. To meet our customers’ increasing demands for innovative solutions, we are currently setting up a ‘Center of Excellence’ with Marc Wijnen as global head of e-commerce, in which we are pooling our know-how and applying it worldwide.

“At the same time, we are testing new approaches to solution design and constantly expand our talent and product offering. This is how we ensure that we can offer customers individually tailored services that have their finger on the pulse.”
