Rivieccio named as European supremo for UPS

UPS has named Lou Rivieccio as president of UPS Europe, responsible for all the US parcel and logistics giant’s operations in 56 countries and territories and more than 49,000 employees.
UPS said that Rivieccio takes the helm at "a time of growth" for the group’s largest region outside the US
Jim Barber, UPS chief operating officer, said: “Lou comes to Europe at a time when we are investing in our network to improve speed, add capacity and service the demand we’re seeing driven by e-commerce and cross-border trade.
“Europe is a prime example of how our smart global logistics network continues to evolve, helping customers of all sizes to build their businesses. I have no doubt that Lou’s knowledge and experience will ensure ongoing success and growth for us and our customers in this key region of the world.”
Beginning his UPS career as a part-time package handler in Spring Valley, New York, Rivieccio has held several key management positions at UPS throughout North America.
In his most recent role, as president of the UPS East Region in the US, Rivieccio provided strategic direction for approximately 175,000 employees in 26 states.
Rivieccio, a 34 year UPS veteran, succeeds Nando Cesarone, who has been appointed president of UPS International and a member of UPS’s Management Committee, the company’s senior leadership group.
In this role, Cesarone is responsible for all of UPS’ activities outside of the US. Cesarone was appointed president of UPS’s European operations in early 2016. He has led UPS Europe to record business performance during the company’s $2bn, five-year investment in the region’s technology, network and infrastructure.
