Swissport has appointed Jourik Hooghe as chief financial officer and a member of group management.

Starting on January 9 he will be responsible for group finance, including controlling, accounting, mergers and acquisitions, IR, tax, and procurement.

Before joining Swissport, Hooghe served as executive vice president and group chief financial officer of low-cost airline Wizz Air.

Prior to that, he was senior vice president group strategy, finance and accounting for the Adecco Group in Zurich, Switzerland, where he was instrumental in transforming the finance function, leveraging technology and business process improvement programmes.

His early career was spent at Procter & Gamble. He is also a non-executive director at International Distribution Services Plc.

“I am pleased to announce Jourik Hooghe as our new Group CFO,” said Warwick Brady, president and chief executive of Swissport International AG. “Jourik can draw on extensive industry experience in various senior finance and commercial roles.

“As the CFO of Wizz Air, he successfully guided the airline through the Covid economy. I look forward to having him on the team to support us in creating value for our customers and our shareholders.”

Hooghe succeeds Iván Nash Vila, who communicated his intention to step down from his position earlier this year.

“On behalf of the Executive Team and the Board of Directors, I would like to thank Iván for his exemplary contributions,” said Brady. “Immediately upon joining Swissport, Iván’s primary focus was on refinancing the company and putting in place a transformation plan for the finance function. With those objectives now in place, I would like to wish him the very best for the future.”
