TIACA has bidded farewell to Vladimir Zubkov, who served as secretary general from January 2017 to August 2020 and special advisor to the board on industry affairs since September 2020.
Zubkov, who has more than 40 years of experience in the industry, joined TIACA in 2011 as board member and chair of its industry affairs committee.
Prior to being secretary general at TIACA, he held a variety of roles at Volga-Dnepr, ICAO, Aeroflot, and Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport.
His departure from TIACA follows its transformation programme, which was announced last May.
TIACA said that during his time at the company, Zubkov was instrumental in building relationships with regulators and key international organisations, such as ICAO, IATA, the World Customs Organization, the World Trade Organization, the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development and Airports Council International, “to ensure greater recognition of the importance of air cargo industry and that the new regulations are implemented in a uniform way across the industry”.

TIACA board chair Steven Polmans commented: “Zubkov’s passion and dedication to industry collaboration has positioned TIACA well in the international discussions and has contributed to raising the profile of air cargo within the civil aviation, airlines and airports communities.
“Recently, he has also played a key role in the development of the new ICAO-TIACA training on Safe Supply Chain from signing a partnership agreement with ICAO to selecting SASI World to develop and deliver the course.
“TIACA’s Board of Directors and myself thank Zubkov in the name of the members and partners for the work done. We wish him good luck and a lot of success also for his future endeavors.”
Zubkov added: “It was great to have this wonderful opportunity to serve the air cargo industry for more than 10 years being a TIACA board member and secretary general.
“I value highly the work of an excellent team and the forthright leadership from the board.”
Zubkov has not yet confirmed his next move or role following his impending exit from TIACA.
Earlier this month, TIACA revealed that IATA’s current head of cargo, Glyn Hughes, will take up the newly created role of director general at TIACA, from February next year.
In his new role, he will manage the team, work with the board of directors, the members and industry partners to establish and implement TIACA’s vision and strategic objectives and advance the overall cargo agenda.
