Device designed to screen air cargo

THIS awkward-looking device is a metal detector, which has been designed specifically to screen air cargo shipments.
It seeks out metal secreted in all types of paper, perishable foods and organic material, says manufacturer Mettler Toledo Safeline.
The US company’s PowerPhasePRO Select digital metal detector automatically screens air cargo shipments for the presence of metal.
t is ideal for use in freight forwarding and shipping facilities, by third-party logistics providers and in manufacturing facilities, warehouses and distribution centres where airfreight is being prepared, says the company.
It does not require the use of consumable materials and operates automatically, meaning that personnel and material costs of operation are minimal.
“The system delivers unmatched sensitivity to all types of metal to ensure the safety of airfreight,” says a statement.
