Qatar Airways sets its sights on denim capital Gujarat

Qatar Airways Cargo is to make Ahmedabad its seventh freighter destination in India.
From February, a twice weekly Airbus A330F will depart Doha on Tuesdays and Fridays with a stop in Mumbai before heading to the largest city in the state of Gujarat. Departure from Ahmedabad back to Doha will be the same day.
Qatar Airways already operates daily passenger flights to the city, which is now an important economic and industrial hub for textiles – it is the largest supplier of denim – chemicals, automobiles and pharmaceuticals.
Biotechnology is also growing with more than 50 companies and around 66 support organisations and the city is one of India’s largest exporters of gemstones and jewellery.
Qatar Airways’ chief officer cargo, Ulrich Ogiermann, said: “We already carry cargo on the lower deck of daily passenger flights to this city. As the only international carrier to provide freighter services to Ahmedabad, we will be able to provide even more capacity.”
