Japan’s All Nippon Airways (ANA) has signed a master rental agreement with DoKaSch Temperature Solutions that will see the German provider of active temperature-controlled packaging solutions supply Opticooler containers to ANA.

The containers will support the airline’s PRIO PHARMA and PRIO TEMP products – services dedicated to pharmaceuticals and non-pharmaceutical temperature-sensitive goods respectively.

Dai Yuasa, vice president of global marketing, cargo marketing and services at ANA, said: “Securing cold chains is becoming increasingly relevant as Japan’s pharma and biotech industry is growing strong. By introducing the active temperature-controlled Opticooler and with very high level of reliability and safety, we would like to enhance our service level to meet our valued customers’ increasing demand to secure cold chains.”

DoKaSch managing director Andreas Seitz added: “Japan’s strong pharmaceutical and biotech industry continues to strengthen its relevance in the entire Asia-Pacific region as well as globally. With ANA, we are gaining a strong partner with whom we can further expand our Opticooler network both to serve the increasing demand of secure, fast and responsive cold chains in the important Asian market.

“Together with the opening of our new service station in Narita and the founding of our own Japan subsidiary, the master rental agreement with ANA is another important step in providing Japanese customers in particular with a reliable option for temperature-controlled transports.”

The electric Opticoolers are available as five-pallet ‘RAP’ and one-pallet ‘RKN’ models. Both options use air conditioning to control the temperature inside the container, protecting the contents from fluctuating ambient temperatures and preventing temperature excursions.
