Lufthansa is Jettainer’s first Cool customer

Lufthansa Cargo is to be the first customer of the Cool Management service offered by its outsourced ULD management arm, Jettainer.
The subsidiary will manage temperature-controlled ULDs for its parent company along with leased units. Jettainer is also opening a new Center of Excellence for the management of temperature-sensitive airfreight at Abu Dhabi International Airport.
Lufthansa’s global handling performance manager, Marcus Bezold, commented: “The new service by Jettainer will help us to reduce holding time of units, which will reduce our costs for the leasing of additional ULDs.
Jettainer managing director Carsten Hernig added: “The management of cool temperature ULDs is a small but very complex part of our business. Any mistakes not only have financial repercussions, but also lead to a loss of reputation for our clients. At the same time it is of the essence for airlines to become more efficient in this field.”
