United Cargo has completed the technical approval of DoKaSch Temperature Solutions’ Opticooler RKN solution for use on its temperature-controlled airfreight services, largely catering for pharmaceutical shipments.

The airline already uses DoKaSch-TS’s Opticooler RAP option, which holds up to four CP 1 pallets (or five euro-pallets). The smaller RKN container can take a single CP 1 pallet, or any standard US pallet measuring less than 48” x 48”.

Both Opticoolers are active containers that run on battery power to keep their contents at a constant temperature, and can be recharged at any standard power socket. They can even be used as temporary storage if the necessary infrastructure is lacking, DoKaSch-TS said.

According to Manu Jacobs, managing director of specialty products at United Cargo: “We have always focused on a strong cool chain packing solution within our network because the supply of lifesaving medicines is crucial… The Opticoolers provided by DoKaSch Temperature Solutions are fulfilling our high standards and support our worldwide cool chain network network.”

DoKaSch-TS managing director Andreas Seitz added: “The technical approval of the Opticooler RKN by United Cargo is a major step towards our growth strategy in the US. Thanks to this cooperation, we are further expanding our established and dispersed global network in the Americas and hence worldwide. With its market-leading reliability as well as availability, our Opticooler packaging solution will thereby become available to even more customers in the US as well as worldwide.”
