Swiss WorldCargo has signed up to use one of Sonoco ThermoSafe’s temperature-controlled shipping containers.

The airline has signed a master lease agreement to deploy the firm’s Pegasus ULD starting this winter.

The temperature-controlled container is approved by the US Federal Aviation Administration and European Union Aviation Safety Agency.

Sonoco said its container is made of composite materials that are more damage resistant that metal boxes and also offers real-time location tracking and data on payload and ambient temperature.

Bourji Mourad, director of global logistics and partner management for Sonoco ThermoSafe’s Bulk Rental Group, said: “Healthcare companies and their logistics providers can access the Pegasus ULD fleet via Swiss WorldCargo’s extensive global network and through their branded products SWISS Pharma & Healthcare, General Cargo and Perishables.”

Christian Wyss, head of cargo offering development and steering at Swiss WorldCargo, added: “We look forward to offering soon the Pegasus ULD as part of our transportation/temperature solutions for rental.”
