Virgin Atlantic signs up for SkyCell containers

Virgin Atlantic will offer its customers the option of leasing SkyCell containers for the transportation of pharma shipments.
The airline will use SkyCell containers that can cover the full range of biologics transit temperature requirements, from deep frozen (-80 degrees Celsius) to 25 degrees Celsius.
Dominic Kennedy, managing director at Virgin Atlantic Cargo, said: “The partnership will allow our customers to lease self-charging, temperature-controlled containers to boost the safety and sustainability of their shipments. We look forward to working together to transport crucial vaccines and pharmaceutical products around the world on our global network.”
SkyCell claimed its containers have a run time of 202 hours and a failure rate of 0.1%. The company said the industry-wide failure rate is around 12%.
