Global air charter specialist Chapman Freeborn has celebrated its 50th anniversary simultaneously with staff across four continents.

The gatherings took place on Friday September 15, bringing together the company’s global workforce in joint celebrations.

Eric Erbacher, group chief executive, and Russi Batliwala, chairman of the board, addressed the group in a series of video calls throughout the day that accounted for multiple time zones.

Erbacher commented: On Friday we reflected on the challenges and victories of the past 50 years – and we’ve had a lot of both. It is thanks to all our colleagues, past and present, that we are where we are today. High-performing employees set the bar for what’s possible, and we have hundreds of dedicated people who are willing to go above and beyond.”

The celebration in the company’s Gatwick headquarters saw employees enjoy food and drinks together, including a 50th anniversary cake doubling as a centrepiece. There were raffles and games throughout the afternoon, with prizes including helicopter rides, theatre tickets, cookery courses and bottomless brunches.

“We look forward to continuing to serve our customers and to be successful for another 50 years”, Erbacher added. “I extend my sincerest gratitude to every single employee at Chapman Freeborn. They are all critical parts of our amazing team.”

Chapman Freeborn, part of Avia Solutions Group, used this occasion as an opportunity to further its fundraising for fly2help, a charity dedicated to changing lives using the power and wonder of flight.

With two branches to its fundraising, fly2help runs the Aim High programme, which aids people in launching their career in aviation, and Air Smiles, which gifts unforgettable flight experiences to families and individuals going through challenging times.

Over £1,000 has been raised so far.
