Sichuan Aviation Industry Development Co. Ltd. (SAID) has partnered with 321 Precision Conversions for multiple A321-200PCF freighter conversions.
The conversion and heavy maintenance activities will be carried out by SMECO, located in Chengdu, said 321 Precision Conversions in a press release.
The first aircraft, MSN 1926 will be inducted into conversion in March, with others to follow later this year and early in 2024.
321 Precision Conversions did not specify which carrier would use the aircraft, but Sichuan Airlines is one of three companies that fund SAID.
“This is a major milestone in our programme as we induct the first article B-Registered CAAC aircraft and introduce the A321-200PCF into domestic Chinese freighter operations,” said Gary Warner, president, 321 Precision Conversions.
“The Precision product has earned a strong reputation and trust within China over the past 16 years. We are excited to continue this legacy with supporting SAID as our first Chinese A321-200PCF customer and operator.”
Chen Bo, president of SAID, said: “We are confident the A321-200PCF is the perfect platform for future express/integrator cargo as well as general cargo. The low operating empty weight, reliability, and quality of Precision converted products is second to none.
“With our strong shareholder background and rich resource sharing advantages, SAID has the ability to create value for our customers throughout the A/C lifecycle.
“China’s air cargo market has huge growth potential, we look forward to witnessing the bright future for narrow-body freighter in China together with 321 Precision Conversions.”
Located in Oregon, US, 321 Precision Conversions is a joint venture between Aircraft Transport Services Group (ATSG) and Precision Aircraft Solutions (PAS) to deliver A321-200PCF freighter conversions globally.
SAID is jointly funded by Sichuan Airlines, Sichuan Development Aviation Industry Investment Group and Sichuan Airlines Logistics. Its specialities include providing A321 passenger to freighter conversion services, aircraft leasing and other aviation financial solutions in mainland China.
