AEI bags third MD-80 freighter conversion

US-based Aeronautical Engineers Inc (AEI) will undertake a third MD-80 series passenger-to-freighter conversion for Alaska based Everts Air Cargo.
Modification work on the MD-83 aircraft will begin on December 19 and will be re-delivered to Everts Air Cargo in April 2017.
Everts Air Cargo will use the converted freigher for seasonal demand in Alaska, and on-demand business in North America. Commercial Jet’s Dothan, Alabama facility will perform the modification and maintenance requirements on the aircraft.
Robert Convey, AEI’s senior vice president of sales and marketing, said: “We are seeing significant interest from the industry in AEI’s 12 position MD-80SF conversion and have recently provided multiple new customers with proposals.”
