Air Canada Cargo links with GTA dnata in Toronto for pharma shipments

Air Canada Cargo is collaborating with GTA dnata which will handle all the airline’s export and import pharmaceutical shipments at Toronto Pearson International Airport from February 26.
GTA dnata’s facility at the north eastern Canadian hub has obtained IATA’s CEIV Pharma certification and is “fully equipped for handling temperature sensitive shipments in varying environments and utilizes advanced monitoring technology”, said a spokesperson for Air Canada.
The spokesperson added: “As our largest global hub feeding hundreds of international and domestic flights, more pharmaceutical shipments flow through Toronto than anywhere else in our network. In 2018, Air Canada Cargo carried pharmaceutical shipment to over 100 locations around the world.”
Vito Cerone, senior director, sales and commercial strategy for Air Canada Cargo, said: “This collaboration reflects Air Canada Cargo’s commitment to fulfilling our customers’ evolving needs for pharmaceutical shipments.
“The CEIV Pharma certified GTA dnata facility, which fully meets the requirements for the safe and secure handling of all types of pharmaceutical shipments, enables us to provide our customers with a superior offering.”
Mario D’Urso, chairman and chief executive for GTA dnata, said: “The CEIV certification is highly beneficial to the pharmaceutical industry, which now has in GTA dnata a single organisation certified to provide point-to-point handling and transportation of pharmaceutical products.”
