ECS acquires Asia’s AVS

Airfreight general sales and service agency group ECS has acquired Asian specialist AVS, in a deal signed at the latter’s Singapore regional office on 21 June.
AVS GSA Group, founded in 2007 and with 100 staff, consolidates cargo from the ASEAN region on its network of flights and interlines to the rest of Asia, Europe and the US. Its main hub is Bangkok, and its office network also includes Taipei, Hong Kong, Yangon, Phnom Penh, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Manila, Cebu and India. It also works with exclusive partners in Tokyo, Seoul and Colombo.
AVS chief executive, Thomas Ong, said: “AVS GSA Group complements perfectly the network of ECS Group,” pointing out that both represent DHL Aviation in their respective territories. He added: “We also share other principals like Oman Air and Malaysian Airlines.”
ECS Group chairman and chief executive, Bertrand Schmoll, said: “It is important to have a local partner, who shares a common vision, and has an experienced team of professionals with deep knowledge and extensive network into the local market. ECS is currently represented in 42 countries with 118 offices, 69 subsidiaries and over 900 employees carrying over 720,000 tonnes of freight for its airline partners.
