ECS Group promotes Thominet to executive chairman

General sales and services agent (GSSA) ECS Group has promoted Adrien Thominet from chief executive to executive chairman.
Thominet, who has worked at ECS Group for more than 25 years, was previously chief operating officer in 2011 and became chief executive in 2017.
Thominet commented: “Given the disruption and challenges the aviation industry has recently faced with the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, there is an acute need for flexible, resource-efficient, expert business management solutions. This is precisely the kind of support that ECS Group strives to provide.
“Today, more than ever, the air cargo industry is at a crossroads, and our ambition as the leading worldwide GSSA, is to provide the optimum support to our customers in this changing environment. We are therefore committed to continuously improving and developing innovative, sustainable, high value-added solutions and services to best serve them.”
He added: “We will soon be publishing the results of our revised commercial direction with the launch of our Augmented GSA concept in the coming weeks.”
ECS Group represents more than 150 airlines and provides capacity support to around 10,000 freight forwarders. The Group hires more than 1,200 employees across its 167 subsidiaries in 50 countries in Aisia Pacific, Europe, North America and Latin America regions.
In 2020, the GSSA transported a record 1.1m tonnes of cargo.
The company said it has been investing in digitalisation and has introduced a range of inhouse business intelligence and training platform tools in recent years.
