Virgin Atlantic Cargo has confirmed the appointment of ECS Group, through its subsidiary TCE, as its new General Sales & Service Agent (GSSA) in continental Europe.

Implementation of the deal will start from later this year in a phased approach. Initial representation will cover exports from the Netherlands, Denmark and Italy and representation will then be expanded to all 14 countries across Continental Europe.

Mark Faulkner, interim managing director at Virgin Atlantic Cargo, commented: “We are thrilled to strengthen our partnership with ECS Group through TCE and enhance our customer proposition in Continental Europe.

“Our innovative solution will streamline the transportation of freight across the continent, ensuring efficiency and reliability for our valued customers. As a crucial cargo export market, we are eager to expand our customer relationships and provide unparalleled access to our transatlantic network and beyond.

“Together, we are poised to achieve remarkable growth and success. We look forward to a successful collaboration and the exciting opportunities it will bring.”

Sarah Scheibe, TCE managing director, added: “We are excited to embark on this new journey with Virgin Atlantic Cargo. TCE is fully committed to ensuring seamless service and further strengthening Virgin’s cargo presence in Continental Europe. Together, we look forward to supporting our customers with the highest levels of reliability and care”

Virgin Atlantic confirmed in July it would end its service to Shanghai in October due to increased costs as a result of not being able to fly over Russia.

Earlier in the year, Virgin Atlantic Cargo invested in expanding its online booking capabilities by placing its capacity on WebCargo.
