Canadian carrier WestJet Cargo is to use ECS Group’s TCE solution to manage elements of its customs and operational compliance. TCE will oversee customs operations and related activities including planning, day-to-day management, documentation and regulatory adherence.

TCE has a dedicated 24/7 customs reporting team and will use its technology and automation to accelerate processes and enhance accuracy while minimising manual work. It will liaise with customs authorities and handle any cargo holds at initial ports of entry, to reduce the risk of delays and errors.

WestJet Cargo executive vice president, Kirsten de Bruijn, said: “TCE brings a wealth of experience in customs reporting and management, which will be invaluable in optimising our customs processes. This partnership will help us ensure our customs procedures are handled with accuracy and efficiency, allowing us to focus on delivering top-tier cargo services to our customers.”

TCE is one of a suite of services offered by French-headquartered ECS, whose foundations are in the airfreight GSSA business in over 50 countries through a network of 173 offices. Managing director of TCE, Sarah Scheibe, added that the partnership with WestJet Cargo would allow it to “further expand our expertise in customs reporting while providing WestJet Cargo with the support needed to enhance operations and maintain compliance with all customs regulations.”

WestJet Cargo offers bellyhold capacity on its wide and narrow-bodied passenger aircraft and four Boeing 737-800 converted freighters.
