Italian airline ITA Airways has extended its ULD management contract with Jettainer, under which the latter provides a customised fleet of more than 4,000 containers and pallets.

ITA serves a growing network that spans destinations in Europe, Africa, the Americas and Asia from its hub in Rome Fiumicino airport and Milan’s Linate airport. Its partnership with Jettainer supports the airline’s ongoing growth.

Francesco Presicce, accountable manager and chief technology officer at ITA Airways, said: “Jettainer provides us with the continued and valued reliability which we expect and need in order to deliver our services.

“At the same time, its innovative management contributes to the efficient and cost-effective operation of our airline. We are confident that Jettainer is a great partner for our growing business.”

Jettainer chief sales officer Thorsten Riekert added: “Our goal is to deliver outstanding services to our customers and to improve our service proposition through continuous development and innovation.

“We greatly appreciate the trust that ITA Airways has shown by awarding us a contract extension. This decision pushes us to continue to meet the growing ULD management needs in the most efficient way.”

Jettainer is a wholly owned subsidiary of Germany’s Lufthansa Cargo. In May, Lufthansa signed an agreement to acquire 41% of ITA.

ITA Airways was formed when former flag-carrier Alitalia ceased operations in 2021.
