Chicago, Illinois-based air cargo technology developer Hangar A has launched its digital air logistics platform for shippers moving goods within the US.

The software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution offers real-time visibility of the supply chain, enabling shippers to book, track and manage their air cargo shipments – thus eliminating many manual tasks involved in the process and reducing transaction time by up to 60%, Hangar A said.

Other features of the platform include on-demand analytics and decision support tools such as intelligent flight search to optimise routing, dynamic rate management to find pricing advantages, cost and performance metrics, and online tools to evaluate alternative shipping options.

Shippers can use the platform to build and manage their supply chain, or outsource the fulfilment process to Hangar A’s Transportation Security Administration-certified logistics team under the firm’s Logistics-as-a-Service (LaaS) offering. Either way, the customer has full visibility of the air freight process from start to finish.

Kevin Kerns, Hangar A chief executive, said: “In today’s highly competitive market, shippers are facing tremendous price pressures and increasing consumer demand for faster delivery services. Utilising Hangar A’s innovative air logistics platform, shippers have the opportunity to cut total transportation and labour costs by up to 20%.”

Judith Taylor, an independent supply chain consultant, described the platform as a “game changer” that will “give companies the opportunity to compete without having to invest millions of dollars in logistics systems infrastructure”.
