Double acquisition for Descartes

Global logistics technology specialist Descartes Systems has acquired UK based electronic security firm e-customs Inc (e-customs) for $9m.
The deal will bring the e-customs’ Webdecs UK fiscal filing and security system within the Ontario-based logistics software giant’s suite of specialist cloud based systems.
“By combining with e-customs, we’ve deepened our UK expertise and added more robust capabilities to our global customs and regulatory compliance solution portfolio,” said Edward Ryan, chief executive of Descartes.
“We’re also excited by the opportunity to help e-customs’ installed base of customers run more efficient and profitable logistics operations by providing them access to the complementary solutions available on Descartes’ Logistics Technology Platform.”
Descartes has also announced the $2.8m acquisition of Pentant Ltd, a UK-based Community System Provider offering customs streamlined declaration, cargo security and clearance processes at several UK ports and airports.
