Jettainer and LIS team-up to develop smart ULD

ULD management firm Jettainer and IT developer Lufthansa Industry Solutions have launched a project to develop a smart container.
The ULDs will offer track and trace, and monitoring of temperatures and other external factors. Jettainer said the air cargo containers will accelerate maintenance and control procedures, while increased transparency will make it easier to determine who was responsible for any damage to the ULD.
“The intelligent container will ensure greater transparency within the process chain in future. We’re deliberately breaking new ground here in order to make our services for customers even more efficient in future,” says Carsten Hernig, managing director of Jettainer
The ULD manager said that Lufthansa Industry Solutions has a great deal of experience with tracking technologies; they have proven very accurate in tracking special tools in production shops
