Ground handler Menzies Aviation has chosen CHAMP Cargosystems’ Traxon Global Customs (TGC) solution to provide a standard platform to deliver its customs fulfilment processes.
TGS helps with the processing of import, export and transit controls. It will be embedded and integrated into the recently launched Menzies Aviation’s Cargo Handling (MACH) cargo management system.
TGC was first used at Menzies’ cargo operation at Los Angeles International Airport, but it will now be deployed across the handler’s global network and integrated into MACH by the end of 2024.
The solution is said by CHAMP to reduce the risk of customs ‘holds’, “providing a platform that allows Menzies to quickly respond and adapt to specific country customs requirements”.
It also simplifies reporting, enabling CHAMP to be used as a single gateway for more than 65 customs authorities around the world.
Rory Fidler, senior vice president cargo technology at Menzies Aviation, said: “This upgrade will further streamline our cargo operations, providing customers with seamless and efficient customs and security processes.”
He noted that CHAMP is “working hard to support an ambitious roll-out program[me] over the coming months”.
Dirk Thorwirth, head of sales – global distribution services at CHAMP, added: “Traxon Global Customs… is a fantastic tool that easily integrates into third-party platforms and drives efficiency through open and interconnected operations.
“By ensuring compliance with the constantly evolving regulatory landscape, Menzies Aviation is well positioned for growth in the years to come.”
New deals
It’s been a busy couple of months for CHAMP, which has announced a number of new contracts.
Last month (July), it was announced that Caribbean Airlines Cargo had adopted CHAMP’s Cargospot Mobile and Cargospot Quotes with the aim of driving efficiency and growth within the freight carrier’s business.
The airline was already using CHAMP’s Cargospot suite for cargo management processes, but has now signed multi-year contracts for Cargospot Mobile and Cargospot Quotes.
Cargospot Mobile will provide Caribbean Airlines Cargo’s frontline teams with real-time access to information and tools with the aim of enhancing communication, collaboration and decision-making.
And, in late June, it was confirmed that CMA CGM Air Cargo had selected CHAMP Cargosystems to provide its cargo management software.
The IT firm said that CMA CGM had selected a range of its applications based around its Cargospot solution, including management system Cargospot Airline, booking platform Cargospot Portal, Cargospot Business Intelligence and data interchange TRAXON CargoHUB.
