#NexGenLeaders winners announced at ACE

The winners of the ECS Group-hosted #NexGenLeaders 2019 Challenge have been announced at Air Cargo Europe (ACE) in Munich: a grouping of Luxembourg-based airfreight IT systems supplier CHAMP Cargosystems, Franco-Dutch airfreight carrier Air France KLM Martinair Cargo and software developer Dropslab Technologies.

The group won the award for their Augmented Reality for Air Cargo Warehouses project. The project is designed to increases efficiencies in ground handling operations from freight acceptance to pallet build-up through the use of augmented reality (AR) hardware.

The award was announced yesterday (June 5) at ACE.

AR is a tool that allows users to access digital contextual information in their real-world environment presented through a hardware device (such as Google Glass, for example).

“We are incredibly honoured to have won this award and would like to thank our partners, students from Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences that participated, and ECS Group for hosting the event,” declared Lucas Fernandez, head of innovation at CHAMP Cargosystems.

“CHAMP is dedicated to making the air cargo supply chain simpler, faster and better by leveraging and introducing the latest technologies to our industry.”

Marcel de Nooijer, executive vice president at Air France KLM Martinair Cargo, remarked: “Only our joint efforts could have brought this forward – and we are thrilled to have made it a success alongside CHAMP and Dropslab.”

Finally, Pascal Schug, managing director at Dropslab Technologies, added: “Dropslab is thrilled with this innovative opportunity to develop technologies for air cargo.”
