Norwegian opts for Zodiac on B787s

Fornebu, Oslo-headquartered low-cost carrier Norwegian is introducing new, lighter, and stronger baggage containers for shipment onboard its Boeing 787 ‘Dreamliner’ aircraft.
The Herculight S Endumax containers from Zodiac AirCargo offer increased protection but weigh just 51kg, significantly less than traditional containers, the carrier pointed out.
Norwegian Cargo, which was formed in April 2013, handles the Norwegian Group’s commercial cargo activities. Bjørn Erik Barman-Jensen, head of Norwegian Cargo, commented: “It’s no secret that Norwegian has one of the greenest aircraft fleets in the skies.
“We have now taken it a step further by investing in new stronger and lighter containers that take weight off our aircraft.
“As such, the new Zodiac Aerospace containers will also reduce our fuel bill, which means we can continue to pass on additional cost savings to customers,” he noted.
Jason Cochran, general manager of Zodiac AirCargo Equipment, added: “Our dedication to lightweight, highly durable equipment is a great match with Norwegian’s admirable environmental policies.”
